Ava Answers – Episode 3, “What is an Allowance?”

When we first created Ava Answers, it wasn’t just about making financial education fun — it was about helping credit unions connect with future members in meaningful ways.

In Episode 3, Ava (and her dog, Kash) answers a question from Nora:

“What is an allowance?”

Ava Answers reads an email on her tablet asking what is an allowance.

It’s an interesting question as some families choose to give their children allowances and others do not. Ava explains that an allowance is a set amount of money given regularly (like weekly or monthly). Some families give money for doing extra chores around the house as opposed to an allowance. In either situation, it gives kids the opportunity to have their own money to manage. Ava talks about putting most of her money into her savings account and spending the rest on fun things, like going out to the movies with her friends.

And yes, Nora, per your request, we gave Kash some pets for you!
