Introducing “Ava Answers” – Helping Credit Unions Educate the Next Generation of Members

Ava Answers, isn’t just about making financial education fun for kids and teens — she is also about helping credit unions connect with future members in meaningful ways.

Episode 1 is a short introduction of Ava (and her dog, Kash) where she explains the difference between a bank and a credit union in very simple terms.

“What is a credit union?”

It’s a simple question, but one that many people have. (I did not know what a credit union was until I was in my 40’s!) If someone doesn’t know what a credit union is and how a financial cooperative works, than it appears to be simply another financial institution offering the same, commoditized products.

In future episodes Ava will be answering questions from kids and teens sent directly to her. I’ll be sharing these episodes with you with some explanation, or feel free to watch them all!

The power of storytelling through Ava Answers is real, relatable conversations that help viewers see themselves in the story — whether they’re a teen saving for a bike or an adult saving for a home. If you are from the DeKalb/Sycamore, Illinois area, you will recognize many of the places and landmarks that Ava is in and when she flashes back to days past. This gives Ava a relatable story of being local and part of our community.

For credit unions, this isn’t just education — it’s engagement. Content like Ava Answers helps position your credit union as a trusted resource, builds brand familiarity early, and nurtures lifelong relationships that begin long before someone applies for their first loan.
