Ava Answers – Episode 7, “What is the Difference Between a Credit Card and a Debit Card?”

When we first created Ava Answers, it wasn’t just about making financial education fun — it was about helping credit unions connect with future members in meaningful ways.

In Episode 7, Ava (and her dog, Kash) answers a question from Ramone:

“What is the difference between a credit card and a debit card?”

Ava Answers explaining how credit and debit cards work.

This is a good question. Both are used for making purchases, but they work differently. Paying with a debit card is like using digital cash, the money is taken immediately out of your account. Paying with a credit card is borrowing money that you pay back later. Interest charges will be added if you don’t pay the balance every month. Ava explains how the two different types of cards work and how she used both debit and credit cards responsibly.
